Mike Rudd’s 1st BASE
1st BASES’s repertoire is drawn from the often witty, always intriguing catalogue of songs penned by Mike Rudd (‘My Crudd’) from the early 70s to the present day. But now, with 1st Base, Mike has a new, stripped-back, acoustic palette with piano accordionist George Butrumlis (Black Sorrows, Zydeco Jump) and Jeremy Alsop (Ron Charles Band, Allan Zavod, David Chesworth Ensemble) on double bass.
There will be the singles, the most famous of all being I’ll Be Gone (Someday I’ll have money), but most of the material is drawn from the albums, such as Spectrum’s Part One and Milesago, Spectrum’s alter-ego band The Indelible Murtceps’ Warts Up Your Nose, Ariel’s A Strange Fantastic Dream and Rock & Roll Scars. And there will be brand new stuff, too.
A rare, one-night-only chance to see a legendary rock-star/singer/songwriter/raconteur present a retrospective of his work with two of the best musicians around.
